Garage Fire Leads to Discovery of Cannabis Manufacturing Operation

A garage fire on Sunday led to the discovery of a cannabis manufacturing operation at the garage next door. Around 4:12am, 911 sent the Taylorville Fire Department and Taylorville Police Department to a fully involved structure fire of a garage behind a residence in the 300 block of North Clay Street. Upon arrival, all officers assisted the fire department until the fire was under control. After Taylorville Police Department cleared the scene, there was a request by Taylorville Fire Department to come back. Upon arrival, a large indoor cannabis grow was reportedly located in the garage next door to where the adjacent garage had burnt. After an investigation, 56-year-old Scott A. Wilbur of Taylorville was arrested and transported to Taylorville Police Department to be processed and then transported to the Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond for manufacturing and delivery of cannabis between 500 to 2000 grams. The scene was processed and a large quantity of evidence was collected from the garage.
