A Hillsboro resident was sent to the hospital after being hit by a car on Sunday. Around 9:58pm, 21-year-old Alexa Elam of Taylor Springs was traveling northbound on Illinois Route 127. At that time, 27-year-old Diana Schmidt walked into the path of Elam. Elam then reportedly struck Schmidt. Elam was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield and Schmidt was taken to Hillsboro Area Hospital for treatment of injuries. Schmidt was charged with being under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
