DNR says Possible Bobcat Sighting in Taylorville was just be a Big Cat

A possible bobcat sighting in Taylorville ended up being just a large cat according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. DNR Spokesman Chris Young says based off the video, their biologists determined it was not a bobcat. Young tells Regional Radio News the chances of someone coming across a bobcat are slim:

Taylorville Animal Control Officer George Calvert, who was at the scene, says it looked like a cat to him as well:

Shawn White, who shot the video, says the cat walked by her prior to the video and it appeared to be a bobcat to her. Young says bobcat sightings are a positive thing as bobcats were once on the threatened species list and the sightings show the regrowth of the population.
