The attempted murder trial for 24-year-old Reginald Britton of Springfield continued Wednesday. One of the witnesses to testify was Roxanna Fanshier, the victim in the case. In November of 2011, Britton was arrested after allegedly beating Fanshier severely and leaving her in a dog kennel in Edinburg. Fanshier stated she had no memory of the beating but only of the moments leading up to it including Britton allegedly hitting her in the head at a bar. Fanshier said the next thing she remembered was waking up in the hospital days later. Several other former girlfriends testified as well and all gave examples of domestic abuse by Britton. Forensic scientists from the Illinois State Police presented the DNA results on a hat that was found at the scene. They said that the results showed the hat was worn mostly by Britton but had several other small traces of DNA on it that could not be identified. The trial is predicted to last for another couple of days.
