Illinois Loses Sixth Straight

Bloomington,  IN (SportsNetwork.com)  -  Kevin Ferrell  scored  17 points  and
handed  out five  assists  as  the Indiana  Hoosiers  took  down the  Illinois
Fighting Illini, 56-46, in Big Ten Conference action at Assembly Hall.

Also  scoring  in double figures for  Indiana (13-7, 3-4 Big Ten) was Stanford
Robinson  with 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the floor, while Noah Vonleh
pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds for a team that snapped a two-game slide.

The Illini (13-8, 2-6), losers of six in a row, were led by Rayvonte Rice with
a   game-high   20  points  on   4-of-7  shooting  behind  the  3-point  line.
Unfortunately,  while Rice  was shooting 7-of-11 from the floor, the remaining
four starters for Illinois combined to make just 7-of-28.

A  triple by  Rice less than two  minutes into the meeting gave the visitors a
three-point advantage, but after that Indiana took over and eventually grabbed
a  26-24 advantage  at the  break.  The Hoosiers  shot  a mere  1-of-6 on  the
perimeter through the first 20 minutes of action, Illinois was 3-of-12.

The  Hoosiers opened the second half on a 14-5 run and never looked back, even
as they connected on just 11 field goals in the frame.

The  hosts dominated the glass, 42-28, limiting Illinois to just four rebounds
at  the offensive end  of the floor. It also helped that Indiana outscored the
Illini by a 13-5 margin at the free-throw line.
