Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 1-13-14

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

CRASHES:

On January 2, Nancy C. Beyers, 65, of Pana was traveling south on Route 51. Just before Route 16, Beyers lost control and ran off the roadway. Meyers went into the ditch and hit a sign. Both the sign and the vehicle were damaged due to the accident. No injuries were reported.

On January 10, Shawn E. Carey, 34, of Mt. Auburn was traveling eastbound on County Highway 2 approximately 1/2 mile east of 800 East Road when a deer ran into the roadway. Carey was unable to avoid striking the deer. No injuries were reported.

ARRESTS:
Lisa A. Laker, 47, of 424 East Laker, Taylorville, was arrested January 12 for domestic battery.

Michael L. Wilson, 31, of P.O. Box 208, Watson, was arrested January 10 on a bond forfeiture for reckless driving.

Charles W. Golitko, 41, of 408 North School Street, Morrisonville, was arrested January 11 for driving under the influence of alcohol.

 

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

ARRESTS:

On January 10, a Taylorville Police Department officer was dispatched to 2100 Grand Boulevard apartment A7 in regards to a domestic. The officer arrived on scene along with other officers. During the course of investigation of the incident, Robert W. Oliver, 37, of Taylorville was placed under arrest. Oliver was transported to Taylorville Police Department, processed, and released on a notice to appear.

On January 11 at 6:12pm, a Taylorville Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the parking lot of Circle K. Following the stop, Katelyn S. Allen, 20, of Taylorville was arrested for driving while license suspended.

On January 12 at 2:05am, Taylorville Police Department received a report from an employee at McDonald's that a silver vehicle had open containers of alcohol inside. An officer located the vehicle leaving the parking lot of McDonald's. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle of North Pine and West Elm. Upon further investigation, Joshua D. Hill, 30, of Kincaid, was arrested for driving while license suspended. Five occupants of the vehicle were also cited for illegal transportation of alcohol. Hill was transported to Taylorville Police Department for processing and released on a notice to appear.

On January 12th at 6:02pm, Taylorville Police Department officers were dispatched to 424 East Poplar in reference to a domestic disturbance. Following investigation, Lisa A. Laker, 47, of Taylorville was arrested for domestic battery.

CRASHES:
On January 4, Douglas W. Cowell, 34, of Taylorville was traveling west across the railroad crossing at Old Mill Road near the ADM plant. Cowell was attempting to turn as they went across the tracks and slid off the roadway due to slick road conditions. Cowell then became stuck between 2 sets of tracks. Cowell attempted to back up and then move forward but was not able to get loose. This movement caused damage to Cowell's vehicle which had to be towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

 

THE PANA POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

Following a traffic stop on January 11, Dakota J. Rudow, 17, of Pana was issued a citation for disobeying a stop sign. Rudow posted hsi driver's license as bond and was given a court date.

On January 12, Steven V. England of Pana reported the theft of his Lorcin brand 9MM hand gun that was taken from a 2000 Peterbilt Truck parked at 5 West Washington Street. The theft occurred sometime between 6pm on January 11 and 7:15am on January 12. The hand gun with case is valued at $200 and the truck is owned by Mizuer Trucking Company. The incident is under investigation.
