The Christian County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Christian County Coroner, and the Illinois State Police are investigating the death of 90-year-old Howard Stephens of rural Sharpsburg.

On Wednesday at approximately 9:13am Christian County 9-1-1- received a medical emergency call. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office, along with investigators from the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit, and the Christian County Coroner responded.  Upon arrival at the scene deputies found the victim deceased from an apparent gun shot wound.

An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday (yesterday).
