Several Aldermen who live near Ahlstrom’s said they have noticed the noise and it has bothered them as well. Mayor Brotherton says they are in a tough situation since Ahlstrom is under Christian County’s ordinances and not the City of Taylorville’s. Mayor Brotherton says the County has been contacted and representatives have been asked to attend the meeting on Thursday. Again, that meeting will be at 6:00pm in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building.

The Taylorville City Council was presented with a subordination agreement with Rural Electric Convenience Cooperative concerning the City’s storm sewer easement in regards to West Elm Street. Alderman Rob Heberling voiced concern over the wording:

The Council barely approved the agreement on a 5-4 vote. Aldermen Martin Vota, Ray Koonce, and Shawn Burtle also voted against it. Mayor Brotherton voted yes to break the tie.

The Taylorville City Council was presented with a motion for Mayor Greg Brotherton to send a letter to the Board of Fire and Police Commission to begin the process of hiring two police officers for the Taylorville Police Department. Alderman Ray Koonce urged the Council to approve this motion:

The Taylorville City Council held a discussion over a Motion to amend the Spiller Pay Ordinance to include the following language: “an instance in which two non-residents are involved in an accident, the driver that is determined to be the majority at fault is the one responsible for paying the charges”. City Attorney Rocci Romano says the Council should       re-consider the wording:

The Council voted to table the topic while City Attorney Romano works on the wording.

The City Council also approved the Fire Union Local #3144 contract. The Council approved the execution of an easement agreement in regards to Enlow Sanitary Sewer Easement. The Council approved to review applications on file and to advertise if necessary for one heavy equipment operator for the Street Department.

The meeting adjourned at 7:31 pm.
