Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 12-16-13

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICER REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

CRASHES:
On December 13, Tristan J. Atkinson, 24, of Taylorville, was eastbound on County #6. Approximately one half mile east of County #7, Atkinson lost control of the vehicle on the slick road. Atkinson left the roadway and overturned in the north ditch. No injuries were reported.

On December 13, Derek W. Bourke, 21, of Decatur was traveling southwest on IL. Route 48. Bourke lost control in ice and slushy conditions and went off the roadway to the west. Bourke entered a plowed field and overturned two times before coming to rest on the roof. No injuries were reported.

On December 11, Cody W. Basil, 22, of Kincaid was stopped in the roadway on TWP Road 2300 East due to a semi tractor-trailer broken down. Bryson E. Thompson, 45, of Taylorville came up behind Basil on TWP Road 900 North. Thompson states he came to a complete stop and Basil backed into his vehicle. Basil states he was getting ready to back up due to the blocked roadway when he was struck in the rear by Basil. Thompson was issued 3 citations unrelated to the crash. No injuries reported.

ARRESTS:
James D. Snell, 20, of 2812 South Price, Springfield, was arrested December 13 on a bond forfeiture for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Donald G. Kloever, 37, of 406 West Olive, Pana, was arrested December 13 on a bond forfeiture for criminal damage to property.

Andrew D. Foster, 19, of 600 West Third Street, Taylorville, was arrested December 14 for home invasion and resisting a peace officer.

Shane J. Horve, 19, of 600 West 3rd Street, Taylorville, was arrested December 14 for home invasion and illegally possessing/consumption alcohol by a minor.


THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:
ARRESTS:
On December 14 at 2:50am, Taylorville Police Department officers were dispatched to 600 West Third Street Apt. 2B in reference to an assault. During the investigation, a 17-year-old male, 19-year-old Andrew D. Foster of Taylorville, and 19-year-old Shane J. Horve of Taylorville, were located and arrested for home invasion and illegal possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor. The 17-year-old and Foster were also charged with resisting a peace officer while Horve was charged with burglary from a motor vehicle. They were transported to Taylorville Police Department for processing and then transported to the Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond.

On December 9, Nathan C. Scholes, 30, of Altamont was traveling south on Route 29 when a deer ran into the roadway. Scholes was not able to stop in time and struck the deer which was knocked off the roadway. Scholes' vehicle suffered damage but he was able to drive away from the scene. No injuries were reported.

On December 8, Sierra M. Durbin, 18, of Taylorville was traveling north on Clay Street just past the intersection of Clay and Market Street. Durbin advised that she tried to slow down and that due to the icy conditions, begun to spin. Durbin spun around and struck a utility post on the West side of the roadway. The post was broken off at its base. Durbin had damage but was able to drive from the scene.

 

THE PANA POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

On December 13, Starla D. Hostetler, 42, of Bingham was arrested on a Macon County warrant for failure to appear. Hostetler was transported to the Macon County jail in lieu of bond.

After an incident on December 13 at 207 Hayes Avenue, Pana, a temporary complaint was signed against Rachael L. Purkes, 27, of Pana for aggravated battery (victim over 60 years of age). Purkes was arrested and transported to the Christian County Jail in lieu of bond.

Following a dispute on December 13 at 711 Railroad Avenue, Pana, Jacob C. Krouse, 28, of Springfield was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Krouse was issued a notice to appear in court and released. Additional information is being forwarded to the State's Attorney for consideration of charges for battery and criminal trespass to real property.

On December 14, Joyce McKittrick of Pana reported the theft of money and jewelry from 406 East Second Street approximately one month ago.

On December 15, Jennifer Sisk, of Pana reported the theft of an elephant yard ornament from 100 MacArthur Boulevard sometime during the evening of December 14 and the early morning hours of December 15.

On December 15, Crystal Durham of Pana reported the theft of several items from 404 East Second Street in the last six months.
