On December 9, Taylorville Police Department officers went to Prairie Street and made contact with James W. Lunsford, 24, of Taylorville, who they knew to have a valid warrant out of Christian County. The officers ran Lunsford's information through the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System and verified the warrant. Lunsford was placed under arrest and transported to Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond.

CRASHES:
On December 19, Taylorville Police Department officers responded to a two vehicle accident in the 400 block of Springfield Road. Gregory B. Saling, 35, of Sherman said that Clarence I. Moore, 65, of Taylorville slowed in front of him and he could not stop in time and struck Moore in the rear end. Moore stated vehicles in front of him slowed and he had to slow down. A witness who was driving in front of Moore stated that the vehicles in front of her slowed down suddenly. Moore had rear bumper damage and Saling has front end damage. No injuries were reported. Saling was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident

On December 9, a Taylorville Police Department officer was dispatched to a traffic crash on Springfield Road near Arby's. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with Kara M. Yonker, 28, of Taylorville. Yonker advised she was traveling east on Springfield Road and Taylor L. Brinkoetter, 29, of Stonington turned in front of her at the Arby's entrance. Yonker advised she applied the brakes but was unable to stop in time. Brinkoetter advised she was turning left into Arby's and did not see Yonker coming. No injuries reported.

On December 8, Julia L. Shoop, 19, of Taylorville was traveling north on Cherokee Street. The weather conditions at the time caused the streets to be extremely icy. Shoop was not able to continue north on Cherokee Street due to vehicles stuck on the icy street both in front and back of her. Shoop advised she was pulled over about a foot from the curbing on the east side of the road and parked there. Kim D. Blakely, 38, of Taylorville was traveling south on Cherokee. Blakely advised that as she was traveling south, Shoop was in the middle of the roadway and that she could not avoid striking Shoop on the icy roadway. Shoop advised that she was in her lane and that when Blakely was traveling, she began to slide on the ice and struck Shoop's vehicle. A witness in the vehicle south of Shoop advised that Shoop was in their lane and that Blakely did slide into Shoop while trying to break on the icy roadway. Both vehicles suffered damage but were able to drive away from the scene. No injuries reported.
