Fillmore Resident Killed in One Vehicle Crash

A Fillmore resident was killed in a one car crash on Monday. Around 10:45am, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division received a 911 call which reported that a vehicle accident occurred and the driver was unresponsive. The truck was located in the yard of 14351 Fillmore Trail, Hillsboro.

A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sheriff arrived on the scene at 11:00am and Hillsboro Fire Depart and Ambulance Service were already on scene. The driver, 57-year-old Ronald W. Koonce of Fillmore, was pronounced dead on the scene by a Montgomery County Deputy Coroner.

Koonce was driving a 2001 Ford pick-up traveling East on Fillmore Trail and was reportedly on a cell phone when his vehicle left the roadway. The truck went back onto the roadway and crossed both lanes of traffic into the north side ditch. The truck rolled multiple times and came to rest on its wheels.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office are continuing the investigation.
