The Taylorville City Council was presented with an ordinance to remove the stop signs at the Grand Plaza and the former Wal-Mart site from the City Code at their meeting Monday night. Alderman Earl Walters explains what this means:

The Council approved the ordinance and noted that the City will still have jurisdiction to enforce those stop signs.
Several Taylorville Aldermen have been receiving complaints about noise coming from Ahlstrom. Mayor Greg Brotherton updated the City Council about the situation at their Monday night meeting:

Ahlstrom is located at 1200 East Elm Street in Taylorville.
The Council also approved the motion to increase the water rates in Owaneco from $3.74 to $5.02 per 1,000 gallons of water. Alderman Martin Vota noted that East and West Lake Shore Drives are now closed and will remain closed for approximately a year while the Lake Shore Drive-Spillway Bridge replacement is completed.
The Council approved an extension of contract with McIntire & Co. for the Ward II-City Park Addition-Phase 4 Park Avenue Storm Sewer Project. The Council also approved the Twilight Christmas Parade for December 7th. Alderman Earl Walters said they are looking into extending the parade route for next year especially with the number of entries they have been receiving this year so that more people can enjoy the parade.
The Council approved motions to begin the process to bid and/or advertise a heavy equipment operator for the Street Department and to bid and/or advertise a full time dispatcher position in the Taylorville Police Department. The Council approved a motion to hire a part time dispatcher for the Police Department if needed. The Council approved the motion to accept the bid from Yard Heating & Cooling for the Lake Taylorville Marina Office Building Upgrades of Heating, Cooling, Electrical and Roofing in the amount of $19,585.00
