Detective Rick Bryan, of the Taylorville Police Department, recently attended a week long course of study in the forensic interviewing of children. Detective Bryan was certified on October 11 by the National Child Protection Training Center and the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Illinois as a graduate of Finding Words, Illinois: ChildFirst forensic interviewing. The training included the process of disclosure, child development, suggestibility, interview blocks and removal, and preparing children for court. Professionals from the medical, legal, counseling and law enforcement fields presented this course. This training was designed to aid children that are victims of sexual abuse and severe physical abuse, while ensuring the best interests of the child are the top priority.
This certified training will be instrumental in the investigation of and prosecution of these crimes committed on our children. Detective Bryan consistently has a high case load of these crimes and is regard by other professionals as very professional and effective at dealing with these types of investigations.
