Female Athlete of the Month
The Female Athlete of the Month is Sydney Lett. Sydney, a junior, is an outside hitter for the Pana Panthers Volleyball team. She has started varsity for 2 years. Last season, Sydney was a defensive specialist on the Panthers 2A Elite 8 team. This year, as a hitter, she has 96 kills, 26 aces, 96 service points, 145 digs, 41 blocks and has recorded a 91.9 serving percentage. Coach Cothern calls Sydney a positive leader who possesses a large amount of court smarts.

Male Athlete of the Month
The Male Athlete of the Month is Jake Smothers. Jake is a senior running back on the Taylorville Tornado football team. Through the first 6 games of the season, Jake has carried the ball 66 times for a total of 386 yards. He is averaging just under 6 yards per carry and scored 6 touchdowns on the ground. Jake has also caught 2 passes for a total of 35 yards and a 17.5 yard per reception average. Jake is a leader on the Tornado team that is pushing for it’s first playoff berth in several years.
