Shelbyville Rotary Club Discusses Halloween Parade; Approves New Member

The Shelbyville Rotary Club held their weekly meeting at the Shelbyville Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 30, 2013.

 

Discussed at the meeting is the upcoming Rotary Halloween Parade schedule for Saturday, October 26. The Club plans to assemble at the Shelby County Community services parking lot on the east side of the street facing the post office.

 

Costume judging will commence at 5 PM and will be judged by the "Red Hat Ladies." The parade will begin once the judging has been completed. The parade route will start from the judging site, going north on Morgan Street and stop at the Municipal building.

 

Kim Durbin, the executive director of the The Villas of Holly Brook, has been accepted as a new member of the Shelbyville Rotary club by unanimous vote. Jerry Yockey will preside over the official membership induction of both Kim Durbin and Bob Boarman at the next meeting.

 

Member Phil Miller announced that the Cystic Fibrosis Walkathon\Bike-athon raised over $18,000 with over 100 walkers and 51 bicyclists participating at the Dacey Trail.

 

The keynote speaker was Shelbyville Mayor Jeff Johnson. Mayor Johnson spoke about the many big construction projects going on about the town, beginning with the 9th St., Street and sewer replacement project. He also spoke about the construction of the downtown Mini-Park and Gazebo.
