A Pana man has been sentenced to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. 29-year-old Travis M. Gregg of Pana pleaded guilty to a charge of second degree murder and admitted that it was him who stabbed 29 year old James “Adam” Bertin of Pana in an incident on April 13th. Bertin was attending a family get together in memory of his cousin, Jacob Cox, when a fight reportedly broke out and he was stabbed in the neck. Bertin was taken to Pana Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The negotiated plea is a day for day sentence which means Gregg could be up for release in about 7 years. There is also a two year period of mandatory supervised release that is included with the second degree murder charge.
