The Shelbyville Rotary Club held their weekly meeting last Monday September 23rd. In attendance was Kim Durbin director of the Villas at Hollybrook and potential new member.

The "Rotary Halloween Parade," is coming together. The club will assemble in the parking lot of the Shelby County Community Services, across the street from the Post Office, at 4:30 PM. Judging to begin at 5 PM.

Next week they plan to vote for their potential new member Kim Durbin.

The speaker for this week was Fred Heilich chairman of the Rotary International Polio Plus Program. Rotary has nearly made polio extinct, except in three countries in the world. The Shelbyville district alone has raised over $88,000 in the fight against polio. Rotary has partnered with the Gates Foundation, which is matching Rotary, 2 to 1 in additional donations, in this cause.

Mayor Jeff Johnson, will be the guest and speaker at the next meeting.

The Rotary Club thanks members Judi Humphrey and Bob Heckler for the work that they have done in organizing the Rotary Boat Party. They also thank Mike Kiley, for providing the houseboat, and his son Dan who piloted the houseboat.
