Area Arrests/Accidents/Incidents 9-19-13

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

ARRESTS:

Tilur Miller, 19, of 525 East Park Street, Taylorville, was arrested on September 18 on a bond forfeiture for failure to appear.

Adam J. Kee, 22, of 111 North Brents Street, Langleyville was arrested on September 18 on a bond forfeiture for operating a vehicle uninsured.

ACCIDENTS:

On September 9, Brett R. Vincent, 18, of Mount Auburn was involved in an accident but refused to answer any questions about the accident. Vincent was transported to St. John's Hospital in Springfield for treatment of injuries.

On September 10, Tony L. Adams, 53, of Pana was northbound on US-51 just north of the Christian and Shelby County line. Adams stated that a deer ran into the roadway. Adams was unable to avoid striking the deer. Adams was taken to Pana Community Hospital for treatment of injuries.

On September 17, a 16-year-old male from Decatur was traveling on 1900 North Road and stopped at a stop sign on 2700 East. The male advanced through the intersection and while turning left, he accelerated too quickly and lost control in the gravel. The 16-year-old drove off the roadway on the northwest side of the intersection and into the ditch. He hit a stop sign, a phone box, and a white vinyl fence. Damage was significant to the objects. No injuries were reported.

On September 17, Alyce E. Belden, 82, of Decatur, advised she was northbound on 1999 East Road at approximately 3110 North Road. Belden was unfamiliar with the road she was negotiating and continued north bound while the road curved to the west. Belden went down an embankment hitting the ditch which caused her airbag to deploy. Belden was taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital by her family for medical treatment due to air bag deployment. Belden currently suffers from dementia.

On September 17, Stephen O. Brockelsby, 58, of Taylorville was traveling eastbound on Township Road 2300 North approaching the stop sign intersection with County Highway 23. Brian J. Leach, 28, of Taylorville was traveling northbound on County Highway 23 approaching Township Road 2300N. Brockelsby stated he stopped at the stop sign and began to proceed eastbound across County Highway 23. Brockelsby stated he did not see Leach approaching. Leach applied the brakes leaving approximately 105 feet of skid marks in an attempt to avoid striking Brockelsby but was unable to stop in time. Brockelsby received front passenger panel damage and Leach received front end damage. No injuries were reported.

On September 17, a 16-year-old male from Taylorville was traveling east on Lincoln Trail. He went to turn right onto Roosevelt road but lost control and missed the turn. He went off the roadway hitting a road sign and cable box. No injuries were reported.
On September 18, Doris M. Waterman, 90, of Taylorville was southbound on Shumway Street and James L. Pritchard, 70, of Boody was east bound on Illinois Route 48. Waterman stated she stopped at the stop sign and did not see any approaching traffic. Waterman proceeded into the intersection and struck Pritchard in the driver's side if the vehicle. Pritchard was towing a flat bed trailer. Pritchard stated he saw Waterman start to come out into the intersection. Pritchard took evasive action moving to the south edge of his lane and going over part of the curb but was unable to avoid Waterman as she continued into the intersection, There was some damage to the trailer towed by Pritchard. Water was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. Pritchard reported no injuries.

 

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

ARRESTS:

On September 18 at 3:26pm, a Taylorville Police Department officer located Tilur Miller,19, of Taylorville behind Route Mart. The officer knew Miller to have a Christian County failure to appear warrant. Dispatch confirmed the warrant through the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System. Miller was arrested and transported to the Christian County Correctional Center.

On September 18, Walmart employees called the Taylorville Police Department and said they had two detained for shoplifting. A Taylorville Police Department officer met with Loss Prevention and David A. Blake, 48, of Kincaid and Georgia A. Blake, 48, of Kincaid were arrested and transported to Taylorville Police Department.

On September 18 at 3:50pm, a Taylorville Police Department officer located Adam Kee, 22, of Taylorville at 1001 East Adams. The officer knew Kee to have a valid Christian County failure to appear warrant. Kee was placed under arrest and transported to the Christian County Correctional Center.

ACCIDENTS:

On September 9, Tammy L. Bandy, 40, of Bulpitt was traveling east on Route 104 approximately 100 feet east of County Road 1085 East. Bandy stated a tree fell across the road in front of her vehicle. Bandy said she applied her brakes to stop from hitting the tree when Amber L. Mcelyea, 19, of Tovey rear ended her. The tree was located on the south side of the roadway and fell north. Mcelyea received front end damage and Bandy received rear end damage. All four occupants in Bandy's vehicle did not receive injuries. Mcelyea was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

On September 13, Sheri D. Englehart, 59, of Pana changed lanes into the turn lane on Webster Street. Englehart did not see Ronald L. Fleming, 62, of Taylorville and struck him. No injuries were reported.

On September 17, a Taylorville Police Department officer was dispatched to the 200 block of South Washington Street for a minor traffic crash. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with Christopher M. Rogers, 25, of Taylorville Rogers advised he was traveling north on Washington Street. The road was narrow and another vehicle was traveling south on the roadway. Rogers stated he swerved to avoid a collision with the oncoming vehicle and struck a parked car. The owner of the car, Richard A. Rose of Nokomis, was not in the vehicle at the time of the collision. No injuries were reported.

 

THE PANA POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

On September 16, Linda Sims of Pana reported the theft of five checks from 704 Maple. One check was reported forged at First National Bank in the amount of $150. Case is under investigation.

Following a traffic accident in front of 701 South Oak on September 17, Jacob K. Henschen, 21, of Pana was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated battery, and resisting peace officers. Henschen was transported to Christian County Correctional Center with no option for bond. Additional DUI charges may be requested from the State's Attorney pending analysis of evidence by the Illinois State Police Crime Lab.
