Area Arrests/Accidents/Incidents 7-8-13

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

Jerry L. Turner, 69, of 1122 Springfield Street, Kincaid, was arrested July 7 for domestic battery.

Del L. Burkey, 19, of 902 East Poplar Street B, Taylorville, was arrested July 7 for manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance

John E. Zini, 20, of 611 Dial Street, Kincaid, was arrested July 7 for manufacturing and delivery of a control substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Billy R. Davenport, 47, of 511 Wyandotte Street, Taylorville, was arrested July 6 for domestic battery and interfering with reporting of domestic violence.

Kevin L. Montroy, 32, of 201 South Broad Street, Mt. Auburn, was arrested July 6 for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with license revoked or suspended.

Kevin L. Montroy, 32, of 201 South Broad Street, Mt. Auburn, was arrested July 5 on a bond forfeiture for driving on a suspended or revoked license.

 

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

ARRESTS:

On July 6 at 1:25am, Taylorville Police Department officers were sent to 511 South Wyandotte in reference to a 911 hang up. Billy R. Davenport, 47, of Taylorville was arrested for domestic battery and interfering with reporting of domestic violence. Davenport was transported to Taylorville Police Department for processing and then transported to Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond.

On July 5 at 10:36pm, a Taylorville Police Department officer to 108 East Market for a man slumped over inside of his vehicle. Upon further investigation, Tyler D. Whitenburg, 27, of Taylorville was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Whitenburg was transported to Taylorville Police Department for processing and released on a notice to appear.

On July 4, a Taylorville Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at Lake Taylorville near campground #3. Carrie A. Campbell, 37, of Waverly was arrested for driving revoked. Campbell was transported to Taylorville Police Department and released on a notice to appear.

On July 3, a Taylorville Police Department officer was dispatched to a two car accident. Dispatch ran Dustin L. Pugh, 24, of Decatur through Law Enforcement Data Agencies System wnd his drivers license came back suspended for financial. Pugh was placed under arrest, transported to Taylorville Police Department, processed and released on a notice to appear.

On July 5 at 11:54pm, Taylorville Police Department officers were sent to 314 West Market reference a domestic dispute. Michael A. Blake, 25, of Taylorville was arrested and transported to Taylorville Police Department for processing and released on a notice to appear.

ACCIDENTS:

On June 27, a Taylorville Police Department officer was sent to 807 East Heights Avenue for a possible hit and run traffic crash. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the owner of the vehicle and he said that sometime that day a vehicle stuck the side of his vehicle. He said he spoke with several neighbors and they told him that they heard a crash around noon and saw a silver Domino's delivery car leaving the area. The officer looked at the damage on the vehicle and noted that there was a large amount of dirt that had been transferred upon impact. The officer then went to Domino's and noted a silver delivery car in the parking lot. It had damage to the rear bumper and blue paint transfer. The vehicle also had a large amount of dirt on it. The officer spoke with the owner, Jade A. Womack, 19, of Edinburg and asked if he had a delivery on Heights Avenue. Womack said he did around noon. The officer asked if Womack knew he had struck a vehicle. Womack did not realize he hit a car but would take care of it. No injuries were reported.

On July 2, Megan N Sorrells, 24, of Springfield and Justin W. Ginger, 28, of Taylorville were traveling north on Route 29, approximately 1/2 mile south of Pershing. There were two flagmen in the same area of the roadway. Ginger stated the flagman turned his sign to STOP very quickly so Ginger made an abrupt stop. Sorrells was traveling directly behind Ginger and was not able to stop before striking Ginger in the rear of the vehicle. Sorrells stated that Ginger stopped quickly and she was not able to stop. No injuries were reported.

On July 3, Katelyn Paine, 25, of Taylorville was driving wast on England Street when Cale R Sexson, 30, of Taylorville attempted to turn south on Morton and struck Paine. No injuries were reported.

On July 3, at approximately 5:29pm, Taylorville Police Department officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West Prairie Street for a traffic crash. Upon arrival, an officer spoke with Barbara A. Hayes, 65,of Taylorville and she said she was traveling West on Prairie Street. Hayes said she did not see Hank W. Skinner, 21, of Taylorville backing out of the driveway until it was too late. Hayes advised she tried to swerve but still hit Skinner. Skinner advised he was backing out of the driveway and did not see Hayes coming. He said that a large bush at the end of the driveway obstructed his view. When he backed out onto the street, he struck Hayes. No injuries were reported.

On July 5 at 1:23pm, Taylorville Police Department officers responded to a two vehicle accident at East Main Cross and Paw Paw. A 16-year-old male of Taylorville stated he stopped at the intersection and started to proceed and struck Janice E. Schmedke, 57, of Taylorville. Schmedke stated she was eastbound on East Main Cross and the male proceeded to pull off of Paw Paw Street and struck her vehicle. The male had front end damage and Schmedke had passenger side front damage. Both were able to drive away from the scene. The male was issued a citation for failed to yield at a stop or yield intersection. No injuries were reported.
