Grass Height/Clippings, Leaves, Branches Guideline and Penalty Reminder

TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT CHIEF OF POLICE DAVE HERPSTREITH SENDS THE FOLLOWING REMINDER:

 

GRASS HEIGHT: 

Section 4-5-3 of the Taylorville City Code states: It shall be unlawful for any owner to permit any weeds, grass, or plants to grow to a height exceeding eight inches (8”) upon any property or upon any right of way or boulevard within the corporate limits of the City. Any such weeds, grass or plants exceeding such height are hereby declared a nuisance.

 

The Penalty:

Any person or persons found to have been in violation of any of the terms and provisions of this code shall be fined in an amount not to exceed $750.00. Each day that a violation continues shall be deemed a separate offense.

 

GRASS CLIPPINGS/LEAVES AND BRANCHES: 

Section 4-3-3(B) of the Taylorville City Code states: It shall be unlawful for any person to dump or deposit or cause to be dumped or deposited any grass, leaves, branches or any other things in the roadway or gutter of any public street in the City.

 

Section 4-7-1 of the Taylorville City Code states: It is illegal to burn on any City of Taylorville roadway, gutter or sidewalk.

 

The Penalty:
