Taylorville Native Helping Joplin Tornado Relief

A Taylorville native and former staff member of WTIM Radio, is spearheading an effort in Jacksonville to raise money for tornado relief in Joplin, Missouri.

Allen Stare was a part-time announcer at WTIM Radio while in high school in the 1980’s.  Stare also worked for the Miller Media Group’s former Virden radio station in the early 90’s.  Stare, who now owns his own advertising agency in Jacksonville, is the Youth Committee Chair at the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville.

He led that church’s youth group, on a trip to Joplin to help with the clean-up and re-build of that area, in August of 2012.  After that trip, Stare says several of the teens wrote a song as a result of their experience.  They performed the song, entitled “Turn Us Into Miracles”, at their church in the fall of 2012.

Stare says the First Presbyterian Church youth group in Jacksonville then recorded the song, and it was then mastered in Nashville, Tennessee and released on various digital platforms on March 7th.

Stare says proceeds from the song will go towards the Joplin Tornado Relief.  It’s available from iTunes and Google Play.
