Central Illinois Digging Out from Heavy Snow

The digging out continues across Central Illinois, after a Sunday snowstorm left as much as 18 inches of heavy, wet snow.

 

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has released the official snow totals across Central Illinois. The winners appear to be Springfield and Taylorville, both with 18 inches. Sherman came in with 17 inches, followed by Pana with 16, Winchester 14, Athens 14, Tuscola and Decatur 13, Havana and Jacksonville 12, and a host of communities with eleven.

 

Several communities in the Regional Radio listening area received 9 to eleven inches, closing schools and businesses.

 

A handful of schools remain closed today.
