State Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Disciplines 2 Taylorville Professionals

Regional Radio News has learned that a Taylorville physician and a Taylorville pharmacy, both were disciplined by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in January.

According to information posted on the department's web site, Vernon Klinefelter, a Taylorville physician and surgeon, has been temporarily suspended. The agency says, quoting the article on their web site, that “the respondent is unable to practice medicine with reasonable judgment, skill or safety due to mental illness or disability” end of quote.

Also, according to the state agency's web site, The Medicine Shoppe in Taylorville's pharmacy license, and owner Hugo Henry Orlandini Jr.'s pharmacist license, have both been placed on indefinite probation and fined $5,000, owed jointly and severally, after a Department inspection revealed multiple violations of the Illinois Pharmacy Practice Act including a failure to secure Schedule II Controlled Substances, inadequate recordkeeping, and food present in a freezer containing medications.

Additionally, the agency says an audit revealed shortages and overages.
