The general assembly in Springfield recently welcomed its new members. One of the new members of the State Senate is Democrat Andy Manar who was elected as the state senator representing the 48th District.
Manar says an issue that needs to be addressed is the disparity in funding for public schools.

Manar also talked about his support for improving the business climate in Central Illinois, and that includes the Taylorville Energy Center.

The 48th District which Manar serves includes Taylorville, Springfield and Decatur.
