The Edinburg Wildcats Dream Season Continues

width=The Edinburg Wildcats dream season lives on after a thrilling 3 set victory in the sectional finals on Thursday night. As usual, the Wildcats made it exciting for their coaches as well as their fans. The first set was controlled by the Wildcats late in the set as they squeaked out a 25-22 victory over an experienced Jacksonville Routt Rocket squad.

Routt would rally in the second set to put the Wildcats in a hole they never recovered from and tallied a 17-25 victory. With 1 set left in the season for either of the teams, it proved to be memorable.

The Wildcats and Rockets battled point for point until midway through the set when the Edinburg squad opened up what seemed to be an insurmountable lead at 23-17. Routt refused to fold and put together the longest run for either team on the night. When their serve was finally broken, they had run off 7 straight to take a 23-24 lead. Edinburg wasn't done.

Carly Prince and Lissa Anderson recorded 3 straight kills to end the game at 26-24 and hand the Wildcats the 1st sectional title in any team sport in the history of Edinburg athletics. Carley Prince led the Wildcats with 10 kills, while Tristan Payne recorded 16 assists. This is the first year of a co-op between Edinburg and Kincaid South Fork.

The Wildcats will face Kansas in the Super Sectional finals on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm. The game will be played at Windsor High School.
