Edinburg Wildcats Win First Volleyball Regional Title

width=The Edinburg Wildcats made history last night by winning their first ever regional title in volleyball and it didn't come easy. The first seeded Wildcats faced a tough and determined Nokomis Lady Redskin team that held the second seed in the Raymond Lincolnwood Class 1A Regional.

The Lady Redskins started strong and captured the first set with a late rally to score a 25-17 victory. The senior leadership of the Wildcats pulled it together and edged Nokomis 25-22 in the second set. Once the Wildcats got rolling, it was over quickly as they slammed the Lady Redskins 25-15 in the third and decisive set. The Wildcats will play Tuesday night at the Carrolton Sectional.

This is the first year of a volleyball co-op between the Kincaid South Fork Ponies and Edinburg Wildcats. The victory moved the Wildcats record to 25 and 12 on the year and garnered Coach Kim Peabody her 103rd victory in just 5 years at Edinburg.
