>>Phillies Walk Off On Cardinals

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Juan Pierre singled home Jimmy Rollins in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the
Phillies an 8-7 win over the Cardinals.  Matt Carpenter was 4-for-6 with three
RBI for St. Louis.  Jon Jay added three runs and two RBI in defeat.  Barret
Browning suffered the loss.  The Cards return home to start a three-game set
with the Diamondbacks tomorrow night.  Joe Kelly gets the start against Ian
Kennedy in the opener.

>>Reds Blank Cubs

(Chicago, IL)  --  Johnny Cueto dealt eight shutout innings to lead the Reds to a 3-0 win over
the Cubs.  The Cubs were 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position on the day. 
Brooks Raley fell to 0-and-2 allowing three runs across six innings.  The Cubs
open a three-game set with the Astros tonight at Wrigley Field.  Jeff Samardzija
gets the start against Armando Galarraga.

>>ChiSox Sink A's

(Chicago, IL)  --  Chris Sale struck out 11 and gave up two runs in six-and-two-thirds frames to pace the White Sox to a 7-3 win over the Athletics.  A.J. Pierzynski blasted a two-run home run for Chicago,
which took two-of-three in the series.  Gordon Beckham also knocked in a pair
runs in the win.  The Southsiders kick off a four-game series at Toronto this
evening.  Jake Peavy will toe the rubber against Charlie Villanueva in the
opener.

>>Bears Sign LB Adibi

(Bourbonnais, IL)  --  The Chicago Bears signed linebacker Xavier Adibi on Saturday.  The 27-year-old Virginia Tech product appeared in four games with Minnesota last season, following three
successful years with the Houston Texans, during which he totaled 68 tackles and
two forced fumbles in 34 games.  In addition, the Bears inked linebacker K.C.
Asiodu and defensive end Aston Whiteside, waived defensive  tackle Ronnie
Cameron and cornerback Jeremy Ware and placed defensive end Alex Brown on the
reserve/retired list.  Brown recently announced his retirement and wanted to do
it as a Bear.

>>Colts Crush Rams In Preseason Opener

(Indianapolis, IN)  --  First-overall pick Andrew Luck threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns in his
debut as the Indianapolis Colts pounded the Rams, 38-3, in the preseason opener
for both teams yesterday.  Sam Bradford threw for 57 yards on 7-of-9 passing in
his first game under the Rams' new head coach, Jeff Fisher.  Rookie Isaiah Pead
led the way for St. Louis on the ground with 33 yards while Steven Jackson had
17 yards on four carries.  The Rams welcome the Kansas City Chiefs to town
Saturday in their second preseason affair.
