The question of beer being allowed at the Taylorville Chillifest is once again a hot topic. The brew was banned from Chillifest 20 years ago.

Then Taylorville Police Officer Greg Brotherton was one of those urging the ban. Now Brotherton is the city mayor, and thinks beer at the event could work, if the proper precautions are taken.

The City Council is evenly split on the issue, so if the matter is voted on and comes out a tie, Mayor Brotherton would cast the deciding vote.
