Springfield Foxes Roll to a Victory 27-0 Against the Roscoe Rush

width=As heard on Genuine Country 94.3 WMKR, at John B Pacotti Field in Kincaid, the Springfield Foxes played on Saturday night against a very talented Roscoe Rush team in Mid States Football League action.

The Foxes offense although inconsistent at some points of the game had some huge plays. The two biggest plays of the game came from the Millikin duo. Quarterback Drew Fendrich threw two deep bombs to speedy wide receiver Chris Hampton. One of the passes went for a 56 yard touchdown and the other deep pass was for 58 yards.

Fendrich and Hampton accounted for all 13 of the first half points of the Foxes. While the stifling Foxes defense gave very little ground to the Roscoe Rush. The Rush tried to find an answer against the Foxes using three different quarterbacks throughout the game.

In the second half of the game the Foxes used a potent rushing attack with their two main running backs as well as dual threat quarterback Drew Fendrich. Fendrich accounted for 40 rushing yards for the Foxes rushing yards on just 3 attempts. Also getting into ground was shifty running back Courtney Molton who put up a team leading 68 rushing yards on 8 attempts including a 42 yard run. The power back for the Foxes Ronnie Reed also chipped in with 20 rushing yards on 5 attempts.

In the receiving game for the Foxes as mentioned earlier Hampton was the deep threat and had 3 catches for a total of 140 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Jamel Ward also had a big game though, catching 3 passes also for 70 yards and a touchdown.

The Foxes went into the fourth quarter with a 21-0 lead on the Roscoe Rush. The fourth quarter proved to be much of the same for the Foxes with a pulverizing, attacking, agressive defense leading the way. With one play left in the game the Rush attempted a pass into the endzone and Foxes defensive back Marcell Phiffer got an interception and ran the ball back 103 yards for a touchdown to end the game.

The Foxes won the game 27-0. The next game for the Springfield Foxes will be against the Monona Warriors in Monona Warriors in Minona Wisconsin on July 28th. The next game to be broadcast on Genuine Country 94.3 WMKR will be on August 11th against the Lincoln Way Patriots.
