On Sunday at 2:44 pm the Shelby County Sheriff's Office were told by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office of a possible drowning at Lake Mattoon Beach in Shelby County.
25 year old Jesse Storm of Windsor, was reportedly swimming at the beach with family, had swum out to retrieve a raft and went under water and never resurfaced.
Neoga Fire and Rescue, the Coles County Dive Team, Paris Dive Team, Shelby County Dive Team, Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Shelby County Coroner, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Arcola Fire and the Red Cross responded to the beach and began the search for Mr. Storm.
At approximately 7:00 pm Mr. Storm's body was found close to where he was last seen. Mr. Storm was pronounced dead at the scene by Shelby County Coroner Brian Green.
