Tenaska, the company behind the proposed Taylorville Energy Center, is now reportedly considering dropping the clean coal technology plan in favor of a 650 megawatt natural gas facility at the Taylorville site.
Taylorville Mayor Greg Brotherton says the changes are not definite.

Opponents of the clean coal plant cited environmental and cost concerns as reasons for being against it. The project would have brought in hundreds of jobs. It's not known how much of an economic impact the new proposal might generate.
