As expected, Taylorville's Rodney Davis has filed an application to run for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Congress in the 13th Congressional District.

The field became open after Congressman Tim Johnson decided not to run, even though he secured the nomination in the primaries last April. Davis believes he is the man for the job:

A total of eight cadidates have thrown their hats in the ring, including former Miss America Erika Harold and former Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Becky Doyle. The deadline to apply was last week.
