LLCC Student Newspaper Brings Home Ten Awards

The Lincoln Land Community College student newspaper The Lamp and several staff members recently won awards from the Illinois Community College Journalism Association. Chelsea Stroud (Strode) the Editor of The Lamp says that she was surprised in the success in her first year as editor.

Lamp Assistant Editor, and Owaneco native Katie Good says that the award 2nd place award her and Sara Shryock won for best news story was not a surprise.

This was the last year for Student Adviser Brenda Protz after being the full-time adviser for 7 years. Good says that these awards in Protz’s last year as Adviser show her hard work has paid off.

The Lamp overall took home 10 awards for LLCC and 3 of them were for 1st place. The Lamp also received an Honorable Mention in Overall Excellence.
