City Council Passes Increase in Cemetery Plot Costs

The Taylorville City Council passed many ordinances on Monday night. One of the key ordinances was in regards to the increase of prices for cemetery plots. The increase will go into effect on May 1st 2012. The rate will increase a normal grave from $500 to $625 for a resident.

The Taylorville Airport also came up in the meeting as there was a need for insurance to be renewed for the airport. The price for insurance for the airport has dropped in recent years, and Alderman Walters says that the decrease in price is due to the improvements made on the airport.

Waste Management also gave a check of $2500 to the City of Taylorville (Pictured Above) to help fund the Solar Panel project.

Walters says that Waste Management has worked well with Taylorville in recent years.

In other City Council news Taylorville Mayor Greg Brotherton as well as the city council as a whole has advised the Taylorville Police Department for stepped up enforcement in warning citizens of Taylorville to keep grass out of the streets as this has caused some clogging in the sewage systems.

Also announced by Mayor Brotherton was a brainstorming meeting in regards to the Industrial Park. This meeting will take place on Wednesday night at 6 pm and messages have been sent to state legislators to come and help with some ideas.

The next city council meeting is to occur on May 7th 2012 at the Taylorville Municipal Building at 7 pm.
