Taylorville Boys Basketball Hires Familiar Face as Head Coach

The Taylorville Boys Basketball team has hired a new basketball coach, but he is well known in the Taylorville Basketball community.

The new coach is Carey McVickers who has led the Lady Tornadoes Basketball team for seven seasons.

In that span he has led the Lady Tornadoes to a 135-82 record. McVickers also has two state tournament trips in his long coaching career he led the Williamsville Bullets Boys Basketball team to a 4th place finish in the 1991 State tournament.

He also led the Pana Panthers Girls Basketball team to a 2nd place State Tournament finish during the 2003 campaign.

McVickers says he wanted a new challenge.

Jim Novar resigned as head coach of the boys with just two victories and none in conference.
