On March 15 at 5:55 p.m. the Madison County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Buchta Road just east of Springfield Road, Edwardsville, Illinois.

Sheriff's Deputies and an investigator responded to the scene, finding the single occupant John C. Hutson, 19, of Taylorville to be deceased.

There were no witnesses to the crash, but a preliminary investigation indicated that the driver allegedly ran off the roadway and struck a tree, causing the single occupant to be ejected from the vehicle.

The vehicle which was identified as a 1999 Chrysler van caught on fire as a result of the collision. The Holiday Shores Fire Department responded to the scene and did extinguish the fire.

An investigator with the Madison County Coroner's Office was summoned to the scene and pronounced the death.
