Lawmakers Call For Repeal Of Corporate Income Tax

Lawmakers could be heading back to Springfield before the end of the year.  House Minority Leader Tom Cross says Democrats have submitted a proposal to scale back corporate income tax rates.

Cross submitted his own proposal today that would gradually repeal the corporate income tax hike that took effect in January.  His plan would scale back the current seven percent rate by one percent in January and then back to four point eight percent in 2014.  Cross says the repeal is just one step in the process of creating jobs, rebuilding the economy, and attracting more businesses to the state.

House Minority Leader Tom Cross says the state needs to take action to improve the business climate in Illinois.  He says scaling back the corporate income tax is just one piece of the puzzle.
