In preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Illinois State Police District 9 saturated the roadways. Over the holiday weekend, District 9 officers issued a total of 360 citations for “Fatal Four” violations. Additionally, District 9 officers removed 14 suspected impaired drivers from the roadway. Fatal Four violations include speeding, not wearing a safety belt, driving under the influence and distracted driving.  Motorists are reminded that the best defense against distracted drivers, aggressive drivers and impaired drivers is wearing a properly adjusted safety belt.
