Marlon Byrd knocked in a pair of runs as the Cubs doubled up the Pirates, 6-3. Carlos Pena walked four times and scored twice to help the Cubs avoid a three-game sweep. Randy Wells tossed six innings of one-run ball to improve to 7-and-4. The Cubs continue their six game homestand today against the Reds.
