LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Posted May 23, 2019
Dear Editor:
Dear Editor:
Thank you for the recent news coverage concerning Christian County AFSCME
employees and the County negotiating a new contract. I feel compelled to address
part of the story that stated one of our signs, "$42,000 non-union vs. $31,000 union
employee".
I would like to clarify that the salary figures refer to two specific County employees
who both have 22 years of service in with the County. The non-union employee
has received substantially higher raises than the union employee over those 22
years.
The union employees are asking for fair wages for all, in that we have been some
of the lowest paid county employees for a long time.
The starting salary for a Christian County employee is $11.19/hr.
Thank you for your time.
In Solidarity,
Mary E. Rhodes
