Informational Meeting for Friends Creek

5:30PM

The Macon and DeWitt County Soil and Water Conservation Districts, along with the Macon
County Conservation District, are collaborating to create a voluntary, non-regulatory, watershed
protection plan for Friends Creek. There will be preliminary informational meetings in Argenta and
Weldon in August to explain more about this opportunity for local stakeholders and to set priorities for the project.

The Friends Creek Watershed begins in southeast DeWitt County and flows into Piatt and Macon
Counties before emptying into the Upper Sangamon River southeast of Argenta. Anyone with an interest in the Friends Creek Watershed can attend and participate in these meetings and become more involved in the development of the plan. Public input will drive the development of this voluntary, stakeholderdriven watershed protection plan, which makes these first meetings very significant in the success of the project.

The first meeting will be held in the Argenta Village Hall on August 17th at 5:30 PM. The second
will be held at the Weldon Village Hall on August 19th at 10 AM. Each of these meetings will cover the basics of the work that will be done throughout this two year grant period, an overview of the current state of the watershed will be presented and public input will be taken. For more information or to RSVP, call the Macon County Soil and Water Conservation District at 217-877-5670 ext. 3.
